The Casino

The Casino was built during the second half of the 19th century, but it is not a casino as we know it today. It is a private club and you cannot enter, but on weekdays you can, if you walk all the way to a hall where the cash register is. The entrance is charged, but in return you will see an unforgettable beautiful interior. You will see a glass gallery, a Louis XV style ballroom, a library and some patios. Almost all parts of the building are still authentic.

The Rio Segura start in the Sierra de Segura and eventually flows into the Mediterranean Sea. This river has burst its banks several times. The greatest flooding occurred in 1614. Due to the large number of floods, the government was forced to take measures and dams and water basins were erected, causing the river to lose much of its strength.
